Задача 1
Translator's Corner. Перевести на английский текст «Животные Африки»: об африканском трубкозубе (aardvark), белых и чёрных носорогах (вес, скорость 50 км/ч, рога) и африканских слонах (рост, хобот).
Решение
Текст — о фактах, поэтому переводим в Present Simple; с it/he (трубкозуб, слон) — глагол с -s, с they (носороги, слоны) — без -s. «Похож на» — looks like, «у него есть» — it has got, «можно встретить» — you can see.
Animals of Africa A lot of amazing and different animals live in Africa: zebras, camels, giraffes and lions. The African aardvark is a medium-sized animal. It looks like a pig. It has got a long nose (snout), ears like a hare's and a long tail. Today you can see this animal only in Africa. There are two kinds of African rhinos: white and black. They eat grass and plants. They are very big and weigh 4 to 4.5 tonnes. But they can run fast, with a speed of 50 kilometres per hour. Black rhinos have got two horns. African elephants are the biggest. They can be 4 metres tall. Their long trunk has got forty thousand muscles. Elephants breathe, get food, drink and call their friends with their trunk.
Ответ
Факты о животных передаются в Present Simple, с it глагол получает -s, с they — нет.
