Translator's Corner. Перевести на английский 12 предложений и коротких диалогов: откуда ты и Джон, друзья в США и Канаде, что в портфеле, умение читать и петь, это кошка, мячи, поздравление с днём рождения, лучший друг, цена.
Решение
Переводим по смыслу, следя за тремя вещами: am/is/are по подлежащему, have got/has got для «у меня есть», this/that/these/those по числу и расстоянию.
1 I'm from Russia and John is from England. 2 I've got a lot of friends in the USA and Canada. 3 Jane has got books, exercise books and a new pencil case in her school bag. 4 Sveta and Sergey are in Year 6 (in the sixth form). They can read English. 5 This is a cat. And that is a dog. 6 These are footballs and those are basketballs. 7 Happy birthday, Jim! — Thank you! 8 Where are you from? — I'm from Russia. 9 What have you got in your school bag? — A lot of books and an English keyring. 10 Who is your best friend? — You. 11 What can you do? — I can sing. 12 How much is it? — Two pounds.
Ответ
«У меня есть» переводится через have got/has got, «я из …» — через be from, а «это/то» — через this/that/these/those.
